Tieteellistä tietoa suramiinista
Historiaa
Alunperin 1900-luvun alussa Saksassa germaniini-nimiseksi aineeksi mäntyöljystä tolueenin kautta johdettu ja Bayerin patentoima, edelleen germaniini-tuotenimellä myymä suramiini on synteettinen kemikaali, jota on käytetty erilaisissa loishoidoissa, joita viruksetkin ovat. Sen toimintamekanismia ei täysin tunneta ja sen onkin havaittu ajan myötä auttavan monien erilaisten tautien hoidossa, niiden oireisiin, kuten autismin, parantavan syöpiä yms.
Yleistä
Suramiini on synteettinen molekyyli joka on johdettu tolueenista joka on eristetty mäntyöljystä.

With 9-day exposure, there was no effect with suramin concentrations of 100 microM or less. At 200 microM, 17% of the myelinated fibers were degenerating at 4 days and 53.3% by 9 days. At 300 microM, 72.7% of the myelinated fibers and at 1316 microM, 88.7% of the myelinated fibers were degenerating at 4 days.
